WHO I AM
Community building is in my blood.
I watched and learned key strategies from my mother, who saw the needs in rural Gates County, North Carolina and envisioned long-term solutions, revolutionizing her community, the surrounding counties and even other states through strategic planning, partnerships, and grant writing for community initiatives.
Gleaning from her influence, I mastered these skills and developed an unstoppable passion for rebuilding communities, and I want to share them with your organization.
As a kid, I saw how various systems could greatly help or hurt individuals and communities. With a Masters degree in Youth, Family & Community Sciences from North Carolina State University, I sharpened my knowledge in leveraging these systems and grant funding to empower communities.
Rebuilding communities requires results. And I can produce them.
During my tenure as 4-H Youth Development Agent for a rural Tier-1 County, I designed, executed, managed, and evaluated 30 innovative programs reaching 2,100 youth, securing $45,550.00 in grants and resulting in a remarkable 170% increase in program participation.
The impact from those programs rippled beyond the local community, now serving as models within the regional hospital system. Fostering strategic partnerships, including with the local United Way, further bolstered the programs’ reach and impact.
In one year, I've helped organizations secure $555,000 in grant funding and I'm currently working with organizations to secure $44.2 million in grant funding for various projects.
I currently serve as the President of the Bertie-Hertford NC Community Foundation Affiliate Board. And with seven years of experience coordinating inter-agency efforts, I ensure the delivery of innovative, inclusive, and diverse programs in the community.
ACCESS GRANT-ED
I launched Access Grant-Ed in February 2023 to help nonprofits grow their funding missions through effective grant-writing strategies. To date, we’ve educated and equipped 50 organizations with the tools to receive philanthropic and federal funding. With our training and coaching, one organization received their first grant totaling $10,000 to conduct a year-long mental health and mentoring youth program, while another was able to restructure its program for sustainability, increasing their funding odds.
